Electrical Estimating FAQ
What does VOLT X do?
VOLT X provides electrical estimating support: takeoffs, full estimates, bid review and overflow/fractional support, subject to agreed project scope and availability.
What is the difference between a takeoff and an estimate?
A takeoff measures and counts the agreed electrical scope. A full estimate adds agreed cost inputs and assumptions. The proposal defines exactly what is included.
How much does electrical estimating cost?
Request a scope-based quotation for one-time or recurring estimating support. Your written proposal confirms the fee, currency, payment terms, deliverables and schedule.
How quickly can you deliver?
Timing depends on the documents, complexity, requested outputs and capacity. Your proposal confirms the schedule. No standard turnaround is promised.
Where do you work?
VOLT X serves electrical contractors throughout the United States and Canada through a remote-first service model. Each engagement is tailored to the project location, requirements and deadline; suitability and availability are confirmed before commitments are made.
Can I choose CAD or USD?
You can state a preferred quote currency. The written proposal confirms the billing currency, applicable taxes and payment terms.
How do I send drawings?
Start with a project summary without attachments. A secure sharing channel and document-handling terms must be agreed before drawings are sent. After reviewing your inquiry, we will invite designated contacts to a Google Drive folder for drawings and specifications. Do not send drawings through this website.
What happens if my project drawings change or I need revisions?
Revision requests, estimating corrections, drawing changes and addenda are handled case by case under the accepted quotation or service agreement. That contract defines included work, fees, timing, review rounds and any effect on monthly capacity. No standard free-revision allowance or reporting deadline is offered on this website.
Do I need my own Xkey AiE account?
No. A separate client account is optional. VOLT X uses Xkey AiE software to prepare electrical estimates. For certain contracts, a client may request a separate Xkey AiE account for access to its estimating work and a later transfer. Where the contract includes this arrangement, VOLT X holds the account and pays the monthly subscription as part of the services agreement until transfer is requested. Client access, the transfer process, subscription responsibility and project-record handling are defined in the contract and applicable Xkey AiE terms.
Do you guarantee bid results?
No. Estimates support your decisions; your team reviews the work, confirms commercial assumptions and controls the final bid.
Can I outsource electrical estimating without hiring full-time staff?
You can engage VOLT X for a defined project or discuss a monthly service arrangement. Compare your workload, review responsibilities and full employment costs before choosing. Outsourcing does not remove your responsibility for the final bid.
What does a fractional electrical estimator arrangement include?
The monthly proposal defines the electrical work, deliverables, estimating resources, review process, capacity, schedule and fee. It does not imply unlimited availability or a dedicated full-time employee.
Can my internal estimating team use overflow support?
Yes, you can discuss defined takeoff, estimate or review work alongside your internal team. Agree system boundaries, document revisions, inputs, review ownership and availability.
Does Xkey AiE handle my website inquiry?
No. The website form uses FormSubmit to deliver your inquiry to VOLT X by email. Drawings are shared separately through an invited Google Drive folder. Xkey AiE is the software VOLT X uses to prepare estimates after the engagement is agreed.
