Electrical Estimating Support for Estimating Managers
FOR ESTIMATING MANAGER / UNITED STATES & CANADA
VOLT X supports estimating managers who need a defined external work package alongside an internal department. Assign the measurement, costing or review work you want to delegate while keeping document control, commercial inputs and final bid approval with named owners.
Delegate a package with a clear review boundary
State the systems, drawing issue, estimate sections and outputs to be delivered. Explain what the internal team will continue to price. A lighting takeoff, distribution package and review assignment need different inputs; avoiding overlaps helps both teams reconcile the result.
Use one document register
Record drawings, specifications, addenda and the documentation cutoff in a shared brief. Identify how questions are escalated and who approves changes. When a new issue arrives, agree its effect on scope, fee and delivery rather than letting internal and external estimators work from different documents.
Provide a controlled basis for cost inputs
Decide which supplier quotes, assemblies, labour rates and productivity assumptions the assignment uses, where applicable. Do not assume software compatibility or access to your internal database. Confirm output formats and permitted information sharing before work begins.
Reserve a reconciliation and approval window
Name the internal reviewer and work backward from the tender deadline. Review scope coverage, assumptions, allowances and exclusions rather than only comparing totals. Scheduling must allow time for questions; external support does not imply guaranteed rush capacity.
Measure the handoff before expanding it
VOLT X uses Xkey AiE software to prepare electrical estimates. For certain contracts, a client may request a separate Xkey AiE account for access to its estimating work and a later transfer. Where the contract includes this arrangement, VOLT X holds the account and pays the monthly subscription as part of the services agreement until transfer is requested. Client access, the transfer process, subscription responsibility and project-record handling are defined in the contract and applicable Xkey AiE terms.
Before you commission the work.
How is overflow different from fractional support?
Overflow addresses a defined workload peak or work package. Fractional support is a recurring arrangement with agreed capacity and allocation rules.
Can my team keep responsibility for rates and markup?
Yes, define those responsibilities in the scope. Your team still reviews and approves final commercial decisions.
Can VOLT X work in our estimating software?
Do not assume compatibility or access. VOLT X uses Xkey AiE; discuss required outputs and any proposed access workflow before contracting.
Choose the scope. Agree the handoff.
Tell Liam the project location, requested support and bid deadline with time zone. You can request CAD or USD; the written proposal confirms currency, deliverables, fee and schedule. After reviewing the brief, we will invite designated contacts to a Google Drive folder for drawings and specifications. Do not submit drawings through this website.
Xkey AiE Powered Estimates. VOLT X independently manages the estimating service, quality control and client relationship. Project capacity, account arrangements and deliverables are defined in the accepted contract; no bid or profit outcome is guaranteed.
